Multiverse .dome was first developed for a series of screenings as part of the Future Vision Lab of the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (TW). Its study was first aired in 2020.
In early 2020, the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) launched the Technology Media Platform, focusing on "innovative media experimentation" and fostering "social connections." This platform serves as an organic laboratory encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration for cultural and technological co-creation.
A 12-meter diameter and 6-meter high dome was constructed to explore the visual capabilities of technology media.
The Technology Media Platform inaugural project, FUTURE VISION LAB, showcased experimental exhibitions and performances that blend cultural and technological elements. Running from November 2020 to January 2021, the project looked to advance the development of visual effects through cross-disciplinary approaches.
It was in this setting that we exhibited Multiverse .dome. It was developed with the idea of creating an even more immersive artwork, thanks to the elimination of the obstacles dividing the artwork and its viewers. Due to our inability to travel during the pandemic, we had never had the chance to see first-hand the work in a real planetarium. For this reason, the final version of the work was developed and screened 6 months later in Berlin (DE), at the Zeiss-Großplanetarium.
